I just saw this recent Dreamworks release. The premise and aesthetics drew me in, and the very touching and emotional nature of it delivered. As someone who grew up ridiculed for being the "different" one among others, and who has a parent still learning much about themself to this day, it feels like I was fated to see this movie not too long after it graced theaters.
It was well worth my watch.
I think I've always had a soft spot for the "friendly robot" sort of movies. Granted, the only two off the top of my head are The Iron Giant and Next Gen, but the general idea draws me in. One direct parallel I saw from this movie to something else was Robo's first sequence in Chrono Trigger, where he gets called "defective" by fellow robots. Same sorta thing happens to the title character of this movie, same word used at least.
Yeah I was gonna say the technology behind these movies nowadays is just insane to see. I wonder how long this stuff takes to render even with computers nowadays.
