Aw gee, you're right, they sure are. What a tragedy this is. I kind of want to cry.
On a brighter note, "Wordlad" sounds like the name of a hypothetical FOSS replacement that would exist directly in response to this.

I wrote so much fanfic on this fucking thing. Would mostly use libreoffice these days but the nostalgia is there

I still find myself using WordPad instead of LibreOffice Writer just because of how much more lightweight it is as a program.

I used to use Wordpad for all sorts of stuff as a kid when planning games with friends. Nowadays, I just use Notepad and keep things really minimalistic outside of ASCII decorations I might add to a text file.
