Tael: well recently I've started getting back into Murtop, an arcade style game that plays like a mix of digdug and bomberman, and that got me wondering, what's everyone's favorite arcade games, this can be either the classics, or new indie titles that take inspiration from them.

First thing that comes to my mind is some of Atari's arcade games from the early-mid 80s, specifically ones featured in Atari 50, like:

  • Major Havoc, a sort of mashup between shmupping and platforming sequences

  • Quantum, a game where you draw circles around enemies (kinda like Pokemon Ranger 2 decades prior!!!)

  • I Robot, a low-poly 3D puzzle/shooter thing that predates SNES Super FX by like 9 years.

The one I always tend to think of is Bubble Bobble, as it was at a dairy queen I went to growing up on occasion and my brother and I would always beg our parents for quarters to play it.

Either that or Galaga, as I kept trying to take my friend's dad's high score, he was insanely good at the game and I never beat him.
